OOTD: That In-betweeny Not Quite Autumn Bit

The weather’s getting to that point in the year where it just can’t make its mind up. September’s always a funny one when it comes to deciding what to wear; waking up to grey, muggy clouds and ending the day with sunburn and a impromptu barbeque.

Personally, me and my incapability to regulate my own temperature find this part of the year just generally quite distressing. Whether it’s being too cold, or sweating to death in a number of debilitating layers, I never seem to be able to get the balance quite right.

Which is why, my Autumn wardrobe is taking shape already, as I mentally prepare myself for horrifically sweaty walks to work and losing the feeling in my limbs for the rest of the cold day.

So, introducing: That Inbetweeny not Summer, but not quite Autumn Look:

It’s not a total showstopper, but it’s an easy number to grab in the morning, pop with a pair of tights, or leave the limbs exposed for all to see in the last rays of Summer sunshine.

The top itself is actually mesh embroidery, so I’ve added a simple plain black top underneath to keep me warm and covered up.

There’s so much lovely detailing on this top that it feels a little special; and could be transposed into an outfit for pretty much any occasion. Looking formal at work, sophisticatedly Summery, or even heading out for an evening meal.

It’s got these slightly pleated shoulder pieces that raise, though I do find myself trying to pull them down quite often, and a frilly neckline with lace tie.

Of course, it’s paired with a staple black skirt but works with bare legs, knee highs or black tights. I’ve also worn the top tucked into jeans, so it’s pretty versatile.

I think what makes it easy for this time of year is the additional black top layer you’ve got hidden underneath; which means you can head out without worrying about a little jacket. As long as you’ve got your umbrella, you should be well prepared for the day and its intermittent weather.

What’re your September staples?
